New Single Release - "Gardens"
Singer-songwriter Colton Houser, the mastermind behind the band Tied To A Grizzly, has untied himself and has put the bear into hibernation in order to work on his new project, Burying Birds.
“Gardens” is the first single released off the upcoming self titled EP.
“Gardens”
Inspired by the story of David and Goliath, Colton explains, “David was so brave because he just kind of knew his purpose.” As we discussed the inspiration of the song further Colton added, “[the song] turned more into a self-reflection thing, asking yourself,” he then quotes lyrics from the song, "David, where did you find your courage? … You found me out of service, I am, I am, I am.” It’s a song that searches for the determination to go on in a time of struggle and failure. With this single, Burying Birds brings a fresh, yet haunting perspective to the indie folk sound by painting it with an ambient/shoegaze texture. The song starts with a short intro of cavernous acoustic guitar leading into vocals that grip you from the first note. They are comfortably warm and draw you in like an old friend telling you a story. Before long, you are vested emotionally and questioning your very purpose of existence. From the haunting acoustic guitar, the ingenious lyrics that pull you into the main character, to the encompassing harmonies that subconsciously take you even deeper into the vortex; “Gardens” is an exceptionally crafted art piece disguised in the drapes of music.
This single is a promising launch for Burying Birds and creates hope for the future of this up
and coming project.
I am excited and looking forward to the next release. Check out the video for the single, link below!
